Child Protection Policy...

Introduction

It is extremely important that all people who work with children are aware that there are issues of good practice which it is in everyone's interest to follow.

Central Principles

1. The Child's welfare is paramount.
2. All Children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin religious belief and/or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse.
3. All suspicions and allegations of abuse must be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.

Children are defined as being "under 18 years of age"

The club will:
  • Provide a membership form for children providing details of any medical condition or allergy relevant to potential medical treatment, and parental medical consent for necessary emergency treatment.
  • Adopt procedures which should ensure that all their coaches are suited to working with children.
Coaches should consider that:
  • Children should not play more than is desirable for their age and/or ability.
  • All children should have adaquate breaks for the length of the day and the intensity of the practices/games.
  • Children should not be put under physical or phychological pressure through training sessions inappropriate to their age, experience and ability.
  • Children should not be put in phyical danger.
  • Adults must take care when joining in games with children.
  • All children should be made aware of the importance of proper procedures for the intake of liquid and food.
  • All children should be adequately protected from the effects of weather.
  • Appropriate kit must be worn by children.
  • The arrival and collection times for a session must be advertised to parents.
  • No child should leave a session without informing the coach.
  • No child should be left alone whilst waiting to be collected.
Please note that:

If any coach has concerns that abuse may have taken place they should complete a Child Welfare Incident Report Form
