Sevenoaks U18 Girls 7 - 1 Upminster U18 Girls

Sevenoaks U18 Girls hosted Upminster U18 Girls in Round 3 of this EH Cup tie
at Holly Bush on Sunday. Sevenoaks started slowly and it took 17 minutes for
the home side to open the scoring when Joanna Stanyard finished off a move
involving several passes in the circle.   As Sevenoaks gained momentum a two
minute scoring burst ten minutes later put the home side 3 - 0 up with Catherine
Scorey bagging both with her second being a beauty after she collected the ball
outside the D and then drove forward 1 on 1 to beat the keeper.   Upminster had
several strong players and on occasion threatened and after one good phase of
attack clawed back a goal to keep the game alive. Sevenoaks responded
almost immediately with Sophie Crosley. whose midfield play and pace of
attack troubled the visitors all game, scoring to make it 4 - 1 at half time.

The second half started evenly with the Sevenoaks defence and midfield
keeping disciplined and distributing the ball well with Heather Catchpole,
Celia Gore, Grace Lovegrove, Harriett Barkham and Cathryn Shannon all
contributing.  The game was effectively killed off midway through the half
with two further goals a minute apart from Stanyard and Lottie Willis, the
latter coming from a sweep past the keeper after a sensational solo run
and offload by Crosley who took on the Upminster defence from outside the
25. In the closing moments Scorey deservedly claimed her hat-trick to seal
a solid 7 -1 victory.

This result bodes well for the future of Sevenoaks in the next round of this
knockout competition.
